Seattle Designers Stand with Planned Parenthood

Last night the Seattle design community came together at the Pink Carpet Project to stand by Planned Parenthood and support it's effort to provide low and no-cost healthcare services to women everywhere. Local designer Cameron Levin and PR specialist Grace Kelly worked together to plan, market and execute the show in less than a month. The venue was packed and tickets were completely sold out. Last night's runway line up included two local designers who will soon receive national recognition- Lizzie Parker and Lisa Vian Hunter both made the cast of NBC's Fashion Star competition which will premier on Tuesday, March 13th. The evening also featured designs by Banchong Douangphrachanh, SPUN, Meka Clothing, Katie Chrisman, Miriam Reynolds, Cameron Levin, Ilha Swimwear, Kate Mensah, La Belle Reve, Fancy Hawk and Lady Konnyaku. The evening hosted by Seattle Met Style Editor Laura Cassidy also included entertaining performances by The Heavenly Spies Burlesque Troupe, the Can, Can Castaways and Fuschia Foxxx with music by the beautiful DJ Sharadawn. Event sponsors included Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, Girly Girl Wines, Black Crown Car Service, Milagros Salon, Trophy Cupcakes and Calidora Skin Clinic.

The Pink Carpet Project was a smashing success and to see so many talented local designers come together to support such a great cause was amazing! "We couldn't be more thrilled about the show last night- it was truly magical to have so much warm energy in the room- and to highlight Planned Parenthood in a fun, celebratory light," says event producer (and designer) Cameron Levin. - About the Pink Carpet Project-
In February of last year the U.S. House of Representatives passed an amendment to block Federal Funding from going to Planned Parenthood but because people from all walks of life raised their voices and told the world "I stand with Planned Parenthood" that decision was later reversed. In response, The Pink Carpet Project was launched to serve as a benefit event for Planned Parenthood and to bring the community together to support a great cause. Check out this great video (below) that was shown prior to the start of the runway show last night.
